Be a Soccer Manager Beginner Guide: Your First Squad

Build a usable squad before spending on upgrades. Official features and a reviewed community session establish the core loop.

No story spoilers

§Create your club#

The developer confirms custom club names, logos, colors and kits. You manage the lineup and formation, then watch live matches in your own stadium.

The reviewed player reports choosing colors that did not match the resulting kit. This is one community report with no confirmed fix. Preview what the current interface shows before assuming the selection has been saved.

§Your first squad checklist#

The video opens a pack after its opening match, then changes the lineup before playing again. A newly obtained player needs to be selected to join your starting lineup.

  • Open the squad and inspect every starting position.
  • Compare a new card with the player in the slot you want to replace. Check position and displayed attributes as well as overall rating.
  • Select the replacement and recheck the lineup before starting the next match.
  • Keep spare players for important positions, especially goalkeeper, before training or selling cards.

§Play a match and inspect the result#

The developer confirms live matches against real clubs across servers, with money and fans from wins. Community gameplay shows highlights, a final score and player ratings.

Use the result screen to judge a completed match. The presenter sometimes thinks a chance went in before play continues with a corner. The animation alone is an unreliable result check.

§Improve one part of the squad at a time#

The video replaces an early striker after obtaining a higher-rated one, and also adds a card with a useful defending attribute. These are roster examples without a controlled test of a best team.

After each pack, inspect who can improve the current lineup. Keep enough position coverage to field a team while starters train. Read the training guide before sending multiple essential players away.

§Before a big purchase#

Check the officially listed codes, then read current pack prices and displayed odds in the shop. The reviewed player checks the Community market and finds the shown listings unaffordable for that early session.

Market listings can change. A price mentioned in a video does not establish a permanent entry cost, fair value or cheapest progression route.

§FAQ#

Do I control players during matches?

The official description presents you as the manager who selects the formation and starters, then watches live matches. No direct-control key map has been verified.

Why keep a spare goalkeeper?

In the reviewed session, the starting goalkeeper became unavailable during training. The player needed a replacement before continuing.
